Preview Roundups
April 23, 2019
Detroit at Boston 1:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox finally gained some momentum on the road over the weekend, only to have Mother Nature delay the start of their longest homestand of the season. The Red Sox and visiting Detroit Tigers will make up for Monday's postponement when they tangle in a day-night doubleheader Tuesday to begin a four-game set at Fenway Park.
Miami at Cleveland 6:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians look to rebound from a pair of rough contests at home when they open a two-game interleague series against the visiting Miami Marlins on Tuesday night. The Indians coughed up a late six-run lead in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday before Atlanta scored nine times in the first four innings and handed Cleveland an 11-5 defeat Sunday night.
Atlanta at Cincinnati 6:40 PM ET
Despite a leaky bullpen that has cost them several times in the season’s first three weeks, the Atlanta Braves open a three-game series Tuesday at the Cincinnati Reds brimming with confidence after their offense fueled back-to-back victories at Cleveland to close the weekend. Atlanta rallied from seven runs down to win the nightcap of a Saturday doubleheader then bashed the Indians 11-5 on Sunday, scoring 19 runs on 24 hits in the final 14 innings of the series.
Arizona at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
Gregory Polanco's return to the heart of the Pittsburgh Pirates' lineup figured to spark what has been a lackluster offense and put it more on par with a pitching staff that arguably has been the best in the majors nearly a month into the season. The latter failed to hold up its end of the bargain late in Monday's loss in Arizona, but the Pirates will get another shot to tame the Diamondbacks when the teams meet for the second contest of their four-game series on Tuesday.
Chi. White Sox at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
Jose Abreu hasn't enjoyed a fast start to the season by any means, but he's starting to pick up speed over the last few games. Abreu looks to continue his recent run of good fortune on Tuesday when the visiting Chicago White Sox vie for a series victory over the reeling Baltimore Orioles, who own a dismal 1-10 mark at Camden Yards.
San Francisco at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The suddenly hot Toronto Blue Jays host the San Francisco Giants for a two-game interleague series beginning Tuesday but it appears top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will not make his major league debut, according to USA Today. Guerrero, who reportedly showed up at spring training 40 pounds overweight before sustaining an oblique injury, has hit .331 with 43 home runs, 150 walks and a .946 OPS in 1,062 at-bats since making his professional debut in 2016.

Kansas City at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
Faced with the prospect of losing a fifth consecutive game, the Tampa Bay Rays found their groove at the plate in time to take their series opener with the Kansas City Royals. The Rays will try to win two in a row from the visiting Royals when the teams continue a three-game series Tuesday night.
Philadelphia at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies' high-powered offense has short-circuited primarily due to injury of late, but the team lost a key cog in the series opener following the ejection of Bryce Harper. With losses in four of five to begin their seven-game road trip, the Phillies look to keep their emotions in check on Tuesday when they continue their three-game set against the New York Mets.
Milwaukee at St. Louis 7:45 PM ET
After being on the wrong end of Christian Yelich's torrid start far too often during the first month of the season, the St. Louis Cardinals were finally able to keep him in check and take advantage of their own outfielder doing his best impression of the reigning National League MVP. Dexter Fowler hopes to build off a huge night at the plate and continue his recent hot hitting at home Tuesday when the Cardinals host the second of three games versus the Milwaukee Brewers.
LA Dodgers at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET

With early-season blips behind them, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs are playing like the National League pennant contenders they were expected to be heading into a three-game series starting Tuesday at Wrigley Field. The Dodgers have won seven of their last eight after a six-game skid, and the Cubs have climbed back to .500 following a 1-6 start.

Minnesota at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins look to extend their season-high winning streak to five games when they visit the Houston Astros on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game set. The Twins have scored 35 runs during their four-game surge, with the latest productive outing being Monday's 9-5 victory in the series opener.
Washington at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
Nolan Arenado is heating up for the Colorado Rockies, who continue their three-game series against the visiting Washington Nationals on Tuesday. The Rockies have won seven of their last eight contests behind Arenado, who became the youngest player in franchise history to reach 1,000 career hits on Monday.
NY Yankees at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The New York Yankees have won a season-best four straight games and six of their last seven despite being ravaged by ailments. The team with 12 players on the injured list looks to continue its strong play when it visits the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game series.
Texas at Oakland 10:07 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics halted their three-game losing streak Monday by shutting down an offensive juggernaut. Oakland looks to make it back-to-back wins when it hosts the Texas Rangers on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Seattle at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
San Diego Padres rookie shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. is a student of the Bible but it seems that his opponents are doing most of the praying these days. Tatis, the son of 11-year MLB veteran Fernando Tatis, hopes to keep honing his five-tool skills while extending his hitting streak to 11 games when San Diego continues its eight-game homestand Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners.
